Bandar Seri Begawan - Twenty-seven of Brunei's most successful entrepreneurs and most responsible companies were feted during a special awards ceremony, "APEA 2008" (Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship Awards), which was held at Rizqun International Hotel in Gadong last night.
The Minister of Health, Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Hj Suyoi bin Hj Osman, who was the guest of honour at last night's event, presented trophies.
The "Lifetime Achievement Award" went to Pehin Kapitan Cina Kurnia Diraja Dato Paduka Lau Ah Kok, the man who made what Hua Ho Department Store is today, while the "Special Achievement Award" went to Pehin Kapitan Lela Di-Raja Dato Paduka Goh Kin Chin for his outstanding achievement in building an extremely successful motor empire in Brunei.
The "Entrepreneur Of The Year Award" was presented to Dato Paduka Hj Idris bin Hj Abas, the
founder of Architect Idris.
Goh Kiat Chun, the Founder of Fitness Zone, was named "Young Entrepreneur Of The Year" for revolutionising fitness by bringing in a state-of-the-art gymnasium in Brunei. Goh Kiat Chun's father received the trophy on his behalf.

Four Bruneians involved in construction, furniture manufacturing, boat manufacturing and Information Technology received the "Most Promising Entrepreneur" Award, while 16 others were recognised for the outstanding entrepreneurship.
Meanwhile, G4S was named as the company who made the biggest investment in people this year, while HSBC was lauded for being the most responsible company.
The APEA 2008 was jointly organised by Enterprise Asia, a regional NGO promoting entrepreneurship, and Mediapro, a local business publication house.
