WU CHUN, Brunei’s most famed movie star and singer in Asia, lent a helping hand to a school when he donated $20,000 to Chung Hwa School Tutong yesterday.
The superstar’s generosity has prompted the school to name one of its classrooms after Wu Chun’s late mother, who taught at the school in the 70s.
Wu Chun, in an interview, said, “When I arrived at the school, I felt a wave of emotion hitting me.”
He also recalled, “My mother left the school after working as a teacher for two years. She always returned since to contribute to the school through charity work using me or my sibling’s name.”
Wu Chun, who just came off a successful movie, “14 Blades”, said, “This school reminds me of the many basketball competitions that I participated in. I feel like picking up a basketball now and shoot some hoops.”
On charity work, he said, “There are more activities to come but I won’t reveal them just yet.”
Wu Chun, who is one of the members of Taiwanese boy band Fahrenheit, also expressed hopes of returning to school.
“Someday, when I’m not so busy anymore, I’d like to take some courses in the US or Australia,” he added.
