Starting his career six years ago, Wu Chun, a Brunei-Taiwanese born actor, is back in Brunei for four days.

In an exclusive interview yesterday, the actor who is also the founder of Fitness Zone, discussed his latest movie release, 'Magic To Win', a Sci-Fi action comedy in which he plays the Earth Magician, one of the lead characters.

"What made me interested in accepting the role in this movie was mainly because of the director, Wilson Yip. I have a passion for and strong belief in the work of Mr Wilson Yip, who once directed 'Ip Man' movie," he said.

"Usually, before accepting any role, I would study and read the script carefully, but because of the director, I didn't even have to think twice," he added.

Wu Chun has recently received an award for the Best New Actor from MTV China in Beijing.

"It was a big motivation for me as this award gave me a good wrap for the year 2011. And because I only acted in five movies so far, I consider myself as a beginner still and there is so much more to learn and this award is just the beginning of my career," he said.

Meanwhile, regarding the latest developments on Fitness Zone, Wu Chun said that currently the centre has about 3,000 members.

"When I got back to Brunei recently, I read newspaper articles about the government spending almost $10 million on medicines and treatment for (patients of) cardio-vascular illnesses. I believe that one of the leading factors is the unhealthy lifestyle," he said.

Fitness Zone aims to help people maintain a healthy lifestyle, as prevention is better than a cure.

"In a way, we are helping our government to reduce the medical expenses that have to be borne by them.

"Moreover, since we signed MoU with the Ministry of Health, we saw an encouraging number of people, especially those who are obese, coming to our fitness centre and do their workouts.

"We plan to bring in certified nutritionist and dieticians to provide consultation and advice to these people," he commented.
