The partnership between the Ministry of Health (MoH) and Brunei's Fitness Zone has yielded results in helping more than 240 people shed an average of 10kg last year and raise the awareness on the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

Yesterday a fresh new batch of 25 participants of the Healthy Lifestyle Clinic arrived at Fitness Zone Serusop Branch to take part in a 'no sweat, no gain' exercise routine.

Wu Chun, the owner of the Fitness Zone chain, who is also a well-known international star, in an interview described the success of the partnership with the media yesterday afternoon.

During the interview, the former singer of Taiwan boy band 'Fahrenheit' said, "Fitness Zone and the Ministry of Health have the same vision which is to promote and educate a healthy lifestyle.

"By adapting a healthy lifestyle, the population will be in better health therefore I felt that we can help in reducing the government burden on spending monies in treating non-communical diseases," he added.

The partnership he said "has brought overwhelming results".

"The Ministry of Health through the Health Promotion Centre has conducted the Healthy Lifestyle Clinic in cooperation with Fitness Zone since March last year for people who are overweight. Within six months, the participant4have lost 10kg and they have adapted to a healthy lifestyle even after the end of the programmes."

He added, "80 per cent of the participants last year have continued with the Fitness Zone and become health conscious.

"After three months, we provided the participants with a special package to continue their healthy exercise routine with Fitness Zone."

Wu Chun also said, "With the cooperation and work done by Health Promotion Centre and Fitness Zone, we can see that the success rate of reducing weight is higher.

We have combined the expertise of both organisations to further build on the success of the programmes."

He also stressed the importance of having fun while exercising which helps to create interest among the participants. He hopes to continue working with the Ministry of Health and also would like to host a health expo with the ministry this year.

The health expo, he revealed, "would have health talk and health products exhibitions. It will be the first in the country ".
