A TOTAL of $8,000 was raised by Fitness Zone for the victims of Typhoon Washi, accumulated through their in-club activities, members donations and annual dinner tickets.
The donation was presented by Fitness Zone's Managing Director Goh Kiat Chun (Wu Chun) to the Philippines Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Nestor Z Ochoa in the form of a mock cheque during a handover ceremony held recently.
Fitness Zone have expressed their pride in having members that are willing to extend a helping hand towards society. According to their press statement, Wu Chun, a keen charity contributer, said that being a positive influence to the public is one of his greatest achievements.
Last January, a Charity Aerobic Marathon was co-organised by Fitness Zone and the Embassy of the Philippines. The activity featured the Les Mills workout programme conducted by the club's certified instructors.
At that same time, half of over $300,000 in proceeds from the Humanitarian Fund for Indonesian Earthquake and Philippines Storm Victims was handed over to the Philippines Embassy in a statement by the Community Development Department.
