In memory of his beloved mother, Brunei's top star treats delighted children
Bandar Seri Begawan - In loving memory of Wu Chun's mother who passed away 10 years ago, Wu Chun paid tribute to his mother recently by visiting the Paediatric Haemato-Oncology ward at RIPAS Hospital to personally meet the young patients.
On top of that, he donated $10,000 to the Paediatric Haemato-Oncology ward. During the visit, the Bruneian-born Taiwanese singer and actor found out that the young cancer patients were fond of cooking and dancing.
In giving the young patients a memorable time, Wu Chun invited 10 patients to have a short zumba session at Fitness Zone Mulap and a cooking session at the Palm Cafe last weekend.
Wu Chun expressed, "My mother had always been very, eager to involve herself in charity. My mother has always donated to the poor and this has greatly influenced me since childhood to get myself involved in reaching out to those who are less fortunate."
Wu Chun added, "Her 10th death anniversary falls this month and although she passed away due to cancer, she was a brave patient and had taught me the biggest lesson in life, which is to cherish what we still have. Last week, I just did my annual medical check up to make sure I am fit and healthy because I feel that it is the most important responsibility not only to myself but also to my loved ones.
After a half-an-hour of Zumba, the young patients, some as young as three years old who have been diagnosed with leukaemia, went on for a cooking session with Wu Chun to prepare Wu Chun's own recipe of baked mashed potato, fruit salad and curry egg sandwich at Palm Café.
Wu Chun stressed, "About a third of the most common cancers could be prevented through eating a healthy diet, being physically active, quitting smoking and maintaining a healthy weight. Cancer mortality can also be reduced if cases are detected and treated early through early diagnosis and screening programmes."
A father of one of the patients said, "We know Wu Chun is so busy with his overseas schedule but we can feel that he really wants to bring happiness to these children. We really appreciate him not only for his donation but also for his invitation to bring these children for a dance workout and a cooking session, which the children enjoyed very much."
