RECENTLY, Fitness Zone has grown to be fans of soccer, which also saw them becoming the official health club partner to the UniCup, the first ever inter-university football tournament for local universities and higher institutions co-organised by Brunei BIBD At-Tamwil Berhad and Institut Teknologi Brunei.

Fitness Zone, the number one health club in Brunei has always been very active in promoting a healthier lifestyle in Brunei.

Besides promoting their main core business which is Fitness and Group Exercise, they are giving their full support into sports activities as well.

According to Wu Chun, the founder of Fitness Zone health club, "Sports and fitness has always been one of my biggest passions. Being a sports fanatic since the age of 10 and having the experience of running a health club for 10 years, there are just countless reasons why I want to share and promote all the benefits that you are going to get by living a more healthier lifestyle than yesterday!"

Wu Chun also shared that physical activity is an essential component of a healthy lifestyle. In combination with healthy eating, it can help prevent a range of chronic diseases, including heart disease, cancer, and stroke, which are the three leading causes of death.

Physical activity helps control weight, builds lean muscle, reduces fat, promotes strong bone, muscle and joint development, and decreases the risk of obesity.

According to Muhammad Firdaus Hj Mokim, the Marketing and Public Relations of UniCup, "Fitness Zone has been a great partner to work with not only because of the prizes that they sponsor but also because of the never-ending passion they had in promoting health awareness to the community. It's very obvious that Fitness Zone has raised the fitness standard to another level in Brunei and we are so glad that they are so active not only in fitness but in sports as well."

The objective of this UniCup is to improve the quality of football sports in Brunei Darussalam, to increase healthy and friendly competition among local universities.

It is also to promote a sense of belonging among undergraduates and highlight the leadership qualities amongst undergraduates through their hard work and dedication in organising the premier event and to keep an active lifestyle.

According to Wu Chun, "Everyone has a role to play in promoting a healthy lifestyle and especially in reducing childhood obesity, including parents, government, schools, health care professionals, community-based organisations, and private sector companies. Our involvement is key to ensuring a healthy future for all these students."

The UniCup event has received a huge response from the public after their kick-off with an opening ceremony on January 5 and the tournament will continue until February 9 with the closing ceremony schedule to be held at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium.
