Wu Chun during the cleaning campaign at Muara Beach

BRUNEI’S very own international star, Wu Chun, yesterday joined hands with 40 members of Universiti Brunei Darussalam’s (UBD) Korean Culture Club, Meragang Sixth Form Centre and the Korean Embassy, for a cleaning campaign at Muara Beach.

Also lending a helping hand were Fitness Zone personnel, who kick started the campaign with a morning warm up.

The event was organised by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, in co-operation with Fitness Zone and Korean Culture Club of UBD and PTEM.

Kim Sung-Eun, Charge d ‘Affairs of Korean Embassy, noted that, “This is a meaningful activity to get together with Wu Chun, who was appointed goodwill ambassador of Korea last year to raise awareness on preserving the environment.

“Brunei is very blessed with vast green nature and beautiful beaches, like this one – Muara Beach,” she added.

Meanwhile, in a separate interview, Wu Chun revealed that Fitness Zone will up its effort in raising awareness on preserving the natural environment by organising a unique campaign in conjunction with World Environment Day which falls on June 5.

Elaborating on the campaign, he said, “With this year’s World Environment Day theme being ‘Think, Eat and Save,’ we will go to bakeries to collect leftover buns and loafs of bread on June 6. The next day, we will head to Bukit Shahbandar for a cleaning campaign, and later have the bread and buns for breakfasts.”

The project, he pointed out, “has registered with United Nation Environment Practice. It’s not only to highlight the preservation of nature, but to also not waste food.”

He later invited the public to take part in the campaign by registering with Fitness Zone starting today.
