KFC and Fitness Zone launched the second season of their 3-on-3 Streetball Challenge yesterday afternoon at the Airport Mall.

Present to officiate at the event was the Acting Assistant Director of the Department of Co-Curriculum Education of the Ministry of Education, Roslin Suhailee, together with KFC Senior Marketing Manager Jonathan Bong, Fitness Zone Managing Director Wu Chun, and the Brunei Basketball Association (BBA) committee.

A total of 24 teams are participating in the 3-on-3 Streetball Challenge under two categories: Under-18 Interschool Category and Under-21 Open Category. Teams must compete to be the first one to score 21 points. The game is divided into four rounds: qualifying, quarter-final, semi-final and the final round, starting from June 21 until 30.

Members of the public are also invited to come to the Airport Mall, as fun activities have also been organised, such as face painting, henna, kids colouring contest, ball pool, cup stacking, and many others.

There will also be a basketball clinic that will train members of the public in basketball drills, basic skills, and techniques in dribbling.

According to Bong, the 3-on-3 Streetball Challenge has three objectives: to scout for talent and potential players whom they can send them for further training, to promote teamwork, and to encourage people to get fit.

Wu Chun stated that the reason why they are targeting teenagers is to nurture skills in basketball to help them more in sports.

"Basketball also helps you to socialise, and teaches you how to be a team player and a leader," he continued.
