THE much-awaited Season 2 of the KFC Fitness Zone 3-On-3 Streetball Challenge began yesterday with an opening ceremony at The Airport Mall.

Present to officiate the opening was the Acting Assistant Director of Co-Curriculum Department, Ministry of Education, Awg Roslin bin Suhailee.

A total of 15 teams from nine schools are taking part in the Interschool Category organised by KFC, Fitness Zone and the Brunei Basketball Association (BBA), and it will run until June 30.


The participating schools are St Andrew’s, St George’s, Chung Hwa Middle School (BSB), Maktab Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah, Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Secondary School, Katok Sixth Form Centre, Jerudong International School, International School of Berakas and Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Mentiri Secondary School.

Aside from the Under 18 Interschool 3-On-3 Streetball Competition, there will also be the Under 21 Open Category, which will see nine teams competing against each other, bringing the total to 24 teams playing in the June season of the KFC Fitness Zone 3-On-3 Streetball Challenge.

Additionally, a basketball clinic will also be held from June 24 to 27 between 2pm and 3pm at The Airport Mall led by the Coach Kevin Reece, and ex-PBA player Erwin Velez.

The organiser is calling schools or interested parties who would like to improve on their basketball skills to contact them to make the necessary arrangements.

Apart from the basketball tournament taking place, visitors of The Airport Mall can also expect to see various fun activities held throughout the 10-day event.
