FITNESS Zone recently invited Sean Trevena, a master trainer, to conduct a fitness certification course in Brunei.

The session was participated by 25 people from both Fitness Zone and the Ministry of Health (MoH).

The one-day course saw participants undergo theory, as well as practical exercises during the course.

"Fitness Zone wants to improve the quality and credibility of our business by ensuring our fitness coaches hold international fitness certifications, to demonstrate that they hold legitimate credentials within their defined scope of practice and have learned the necessary skills to safely and effectively empower, motivate and produce long-lasting results for our members," said Fitness Zone Managing Director Wu Chun.

The Fitness Association of Brunei (FAB), together with Fitness Zone, aim to continuously update methods and procedures developed by fitness associations worldwide, in order to improve the technology, health and fitness training, as well as educational offerings in Brunei, therefore leading to positive organisational growth in Brunei.

"We will also focus on increasing the number of certified fitness professionals who actively participate in grassroots advocacy in Brunei, as we are committed to promoting societal changes towards a fitter Brunei," said Wu Chun, who is also the Chairman of FAB.

"I enjoy interacting and building rapport with people of all ages and cultures. My international experience in New Zealand, Australia, the United Kingdom and Asia, working with a diverse group of clients, has enabled me to fine-tune the skills required to assess clients' emotional triggers, in order to design the best training approach for the client," said Trevena.

During the course, Trevena spoke on topics such as Client Interview and Assessment, Programme Design and Implementation, Behaviour Changes, Programme Progression and many more.

The certification course was made possible with the assistance of Startrac USA (fitness equipment manufacturer) and the Fitness Association of Brunei.
