LUFBRU, the most ambitious and active Brunei students-run club in the United Kingdom, has partnered with Fitness Zone, to bring back the Lufbru X-Games during the summer break this year.

Fitness Zone, the most active health club in Brunei, has officially become the platinum sponsor and health club partner for the United Kingdom Loughborough University Summer Games.

The LufBru X-Games has evolved into the LufBru Summer Games.

Mohammad Aale Soufi Haji Awang Mohammad Yakub, LufBru Chairman 2013/2014, said, “The Games are open to all Bruneian students studying in the UK and its main objective is to foster closer relationships between them. We also wish to develop a spirit of sportsmanship among them. The event will be held in Brunei and is expected to have a participation of over 500 Brunei students who are studying in the United Kingdom.

“We as a well-established Brunei society in Loughborough aim to foster closer ties within the society itself as well as with other Bruneian societies throughout the UK. It is our intention to achieve this via healthy competition and good sportsmanship. Excess of income from this event will be donated to ‘LufBru Projek Bantu 2013.

The competition is open to all Bruneian students studying in the UK. Netball, futsal and badminton are among the sports that will be competed in the 2013 summer games.

For students studying in the UK, it is a three- month vacation in Brunei.

Wu Chun, the founder of Fitness Zone, said, “I have so much passion in sports and fitness and I wanted to share the never ending benefits of how a healthy lifestyle can bring magic to everyone’s lives and that is one important reason why I set up Fitness Zone 10 years ago. Having the opportunity to support these students is no doubt the right thing to do and Fitness Zone always hopes to reach out to our communities and entice those around us to tap into the power of exercise and good health.”

Fitness Zone is promoting its ‘Look Great during Hari Raya’ tag line. It is coming up with late night activities in its health club for the fasting Muslim crowd.

“Developing a healthy eating habit is extremely important during the fasting month. Buffet is everywhere but I always believe that diet is only for people who don’t exercise. Eating without exercising is creating health problems such as diabetes, heart problems or even cancer and Fitness Zone’s mission is to prevent these illnesses coming into people’s life,” said Wu Chun.

Fitness Zone is giving away 100 memberships for members to workout for free in July.

It is giving away a one week membership for students in Brunei for their vacation.

They need to show their Brunei students unit card issued by the High Commission of Brunei Darussalam.

On July 19, it will have an open house for the UK students. Popular fitness programme such as indoor cycling class, Les Mills group fitness classes and Zumba, basketball and badminton will be available at no charge.
