IN boosting local athletes’ performance, Fitness Zone as a patriotic health club has extended its support to the first Bruneian swimmer to compete in the Olympics – Anderson Lim.
Anderson Lim received a Fitness Zone lifetime diamond club membership from Wu Chun, the owner of Fitness Zone.
Previously, Olympians Maziah Mahusin and Ak Hafiy Tajuddin Pg Rositi have also received lifetime membership from Fitness Zone.
The lifetime diamond club is usually awarded to members who have been in Fitness Zone for three consecutive years or more.
Wu Chun at the handing over ceremony said: “I hope that this award will further strengthen Anderson’s motivation for future competitions. I always read about Anderson’s achievements and his training in the US and I found out that he is also training in our gym so I am really happy to offer him the lifetime membership.”
“We are happy to work closely with Anderson as he is willing to bring his experience and expertise to Fitness Zone as an adviser for swimming,” Wu Chun added.
Anderson will leave Brunei on Aug 19 to enter college life. He will compete in the University Athletic Association League which will start in September until next year.
However, Anderson will not be competing in this year’s SEA Games to be hosted by Myanmar even if Brunei are sending a swimming delegation because of his examinations.
On his performance in the recent 4th Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games in Incheon, Anderson commented: “I’m very happy with the result especially in the 200m freestyle whereby I finished just under two minutes.”
