IT WAS a day of physical fitness and education for participants of Fitness Zone's "Hike 4 Green: Go Fitness! Go Green" event conducted at Bukit Shahbandar Recreational Park.
Some 200 participants took part in the event, comprising of members of Fitness Zone, their friends and families, as well as teachers and students from DES Primary School and more.
The event began with an intense body combat warm up session. This was then followed by a fun clean-up session around the park, where children competed in gathering the most rubbish within 15 minutes.
A three slope hike was conducted at the end to wrap up the event.
Leading the "Green Event" was the owner of Fitness Zone, superstar Wu Chun.
He stated that this is an annual event conducted by Fitness Zone as a means to strengthen the bond between members of the fitness centre with their families and friends in an outdoor setting, outside the gym.
As for the green initiative, Chun said that by inviting the children, they are able to learn the importance of taking care of the environment in a fun and friendly setting.
Participants were accompanied by certified trainers during the hike so they were able to learn the correct and safe method for hiking.
The event is one of many fun-filled green events planned by Fitness Zone this year and Chun assured that there will be many more to come. Adib Noor
