INTERNATIONAL movie star and owner of Fitness Zone, Wu Chun recently paid a visit to the Paediatric Haemato-Oncology Ward, RIPAS Hospital to personally meet the young patients and learn more about childhood cancer.

During the visit, Chun was given the opportunity to interact with the young patients and their loving family members.

Some of the facts shared during the day was that childhood cancer is the leading cause of death in children under 18 years of age.

Some forms of paediatric cancer have a five-year survival rate of more than 90 per cent, while others have a survival rate of less than two per cent. The average length of treatment for childhood cancer, from initial diagnosis to cure or remission is three years.

The international superstar main purpose of the visit was to create public awareness on childhood cancer in Brunei Darussalam and the young patients whose lives it has affected.

According to RIPAS, there are a total of 89 children that have cancer since the year 2000.

Leukemia is the most common type of cancer amongst children. For 2011 a total of eight children were diagnosed with cancer. Ripas also stated that the largest age group of children who are newly diagnosed with cancer is from one to five years of age.

The children remembered the thoughtful visit by taking pictures with the special guest and the hampers presented by Wu Chun to the young patients.
