THE Embassy of the Repulic of Korea will be hosting a reception for their National Day on Tuesday, October 9, at the Indera Kayangan Ballroom, The Empire Hotel and Country Club, said the embassy in its press statement.

Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Hj Adanan Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Hj Mohd Yusof, Minister of Health and spouse are expected to attend the reception.

Korean Ambassador to Brunei, His Excellency Choi Byung Koo will also be present.

Two special programmes have been prepared to lighten up the celebration, the statement said.

During the event, the Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) and Permanent Secretary (Higher Education), Dato Paduka Hj Zulkarnain Hj Hanafi will be presented with an award in appreciation and recognition for his efforts and contribution towards enhancing education cooperation and students exchange between Korea and Brunei and the appointment of Goh Kiat Chun, famously known as Wu Chun, as the Goodwill Ambassador for Public Diplomacy for the Republic of Korea.

Wu Chun was appointed as the Goodwill Ambassador by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Korea. He is expected to play a role of enhancing the understanding between the people of Brunei and Korea and the cultural and public relationships between the two countries.
