Some 200 women comprising mothers from 13 members of women's association under Negara Brunei Darussalam Women Council yesterday participated in a free exercise session at the Fitness Zone, Kiulap branch in conjunction with Mother's Day celebration.
The event was launched by guest of honour, Acting Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Datin Hajah Adina binti Haji Othman.
Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports said she fully welcomes and supports Fitness Zone's efforts in supporting the government's vision and policy in enhancing women's awareness on the importance of a healthy lifestyle. In conjunction with Mother's Day Celebration, Fitness Zone will be opened for three-days starting yesterday until Sunday for women only. The centre will also give a free One Week Pass to all mothers who joined the club during the three-day event.
The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports urged women in the country to take the opportunity given by Fitness Zone, as they have paved a way to motivate, as well as create awareness on the importance of holistic fitness and health.
The ministry also hoped such event could further encourage active participation from women. Among the activities held yesterday included body attack, body vive, body combat, body step, body pump, body balance and so on.
The attendees also listened to a Nutritional talk delivered by Nelson Dennis from Health Promotion Centre, Ministry of Health.
In an interview with the Managing Director of Fitness Zone, Wu Chun, he said, "We are happy to work with the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports to promote a healthy lifestyle for the Brunei community. This is the only way to further boost women's self-confidence through proper exercise to get fit and healthy."
